  1. What are Different Types of Cable Connectors used in Cabling Installation? Cable connectors are widely used components in cabling installation techniques for data and energy transmission. They are used for long-distance data transmission along a channel without any breakpoint. When you install a data or energy network to provide connectivity between computers, servers, and other networking devices, you will need cable connectors to establish seamless and streamlined connection points between source and destination. There are various types of cable connectors available in the market for cabling installation techniques for connecting patch panels with other networking elements. The type of connectors you will need depends on your network cable types and installation environment. When you look for cable connectors for your needs, you will mainly find three types of connectors – fiber-optic connectors, twisted-pair connectors, and coaxial cable connectors. All of them have a unique design and system of slots, pins, and tabs to plug and connect patch panels of cable ends. Fiber-Optic Cable Connectors Fiber optic cable connectors are used for data and signal transmission at high speed over a longer distance. They are further divided into three categories – simplex connectors, duplex connectors, and array connectors – depending on the number of fiber cables in the assembly. Based on the type of connecting devices, fiber optic connectors are again classified as SC connectors for connecting cable TVs and ST connectors for connecting networking devices. Twisted pair connectors These are the most widely used connectors in cabling installation techniques in a variety of environments. Twisted pair connectors are mainly used for data and signal transmission in small areas. They are further categorized as Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) and Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) for establishing the connection between different networking devices. UTP cable connectors are further divided into seven types ranging from CAT1 to CAT7. CAT1 UTP connectors are used in the installation of the telephone while that uses small data rate whereas CAT6 cable connectors are used to establish a LAN network for data transfer at a higher rate. Coaxial cable connectors Coaxial cable connectors are mainly used with TVs and video equipment in home settings.
