Slide 5:Objectives of the Satir Model Communication Skill Group
Using Satir Model to help group members to be more aware their coping stances and the factors that influence their communication to learn to be more congruent and to recognize their inner resources.
Slide 6:Theoretical framework of the Satir Model Communication Skill Group
1.The affecting factors of communication Satir believes are body stance, immediate responses, particular expressions, projections, impressions, regulations and rumors, a member of the 3-member group, harmonious three- person group, stress, etc. This group only takes the factor “body’s stance” as the message’s content. (The Satir Approach to Communication:A Workshop Manual by Johanna Schwab,Michele Baldwin,Jane Gerber,Maria Gomori and Verginia Satir. Science and Behavior Books, Palo Alto, CA94306,USA.)
Slide 7:2. Communication stance means the process of receiving or transmitting messages and the internal or external responses of a person’s psyche in this process. Satir suggests that when we feel our survival is threatened, our immediate response will be incongruent in communication stance. She categorizes defensive communication into four survival stances: placating, blaming, superreasonable, and irrelevant. ?????(1999)?????????????????????? ???:???????????
Slide 8:3.The purpose of “weather forecast” in Satir model is to practice congruent communication, including, appreciation and thanks, concern or suspicion, complain and suggestion, new information and wish. ?????(1999)??????????????????????? ??:???????????
Slide 9:4.The wheel of influence is a kind of drama that depicts a person’s own life play, including the party involved in childbirth or people giving emotional or physical support to the previous party. The influence wheel can indicate the people that have positive or negative control or influence on the party concerned. They have given the party concerned certain things and the party concerned responds accordingly. Likewise, the party concerned always interacts with these people. In the formation process of the behavior of the party concerned, the more people in the influence circle, the more influences and resources the party concerned will have. ????(?)(1999)?????????????????????? ???:???????????
