  2. Introduction Have you ever heard of the man who wore a upon his head, or who wears an upside down for clothes? This web quest will teach you about the man known as “Johnny Appleseed” and the impact he had on American life.

  3. Task • Follow this WebQuest to learn about the legendary pioneer known as Johnny Appleseed through fun and exciting activities and projects. • You will be assigned the following jobs in order to complete this quest : Detective Reporter Craftsman Artist

  5. Process 1. Listen to the “Johnny Appleseed” by Stephen Kellogg as the teacher reads it aloud to the class. 2. After the book is read, your teacher will divide you into groups and assign each group a job. ReporterDetectivesCraftsmenArtists 3. When your teacher rings her apple bell you will rotate jobs as directed by the teacher.

After the teacher has read you the article “Gentle Pioneer: Johnny Appleseed. You will report to your teacher all of the facts you learned about this American pioneer.   18. Hat Directions • Use black construction paper to make black pots for the students to wear on Johnny Appleseed's birthday.  Staple two 4 1/2" x 12" black construction paper strips end-to-end.  Round one end of a 9" x 3" construction paper rectangle to resemble a pot handle.  Use a round hole puncher to punch a hole in the rounded end of the handle.  Fold the opposite end of the handle, creating a tab for gluing.  Glue the handle to the headband.  Glue an apple die cut to the center of the band.
