limited interfaces
no governing architecture
ad hoc development
multiple sources of data Limited interfaces
Only 60% of applications are interfaced with the Core System
Half of these, or 30% of total, are manual interfaces
The other half are either currently automated, or will be as a result of Phase 2B
Multiple sources of data
lack of data integrity

Phase 2B.2
Deployable Logistics System
Integrated In-Transit Visibility Phase 2B.1 will upgrade the SDSS core system from Mincom’s MIMS v4.3.1.2 to v6, which will be a MOTS adaptation of v5 Ellipse. The Services Oriented Architecture of Ellipse will enable it to provide the IT backbone for the interfacing of all materiel logistics applications.
The MOTS product will include an improved finance module that has been developed to meet AEIFRS requirements. This acquisition will be accompanied by several improvements to the current systems of inventory and financial management.
Phase 2B.2 will deliver:
a Deployable version of the Ellipse MOTS product that is capable of operating independently of the mainframe for extended periods of time, with the ability to resynchronise local and remote data when communication bandwidth is available; and
Integrate the functionality of the ADF ITV application into MOTS Ellipse.
The successful delivery of Phase 2B is essential to provide the foundations for Phase 2D.Phase 2B.1 will upgrade the SDSS core system from Mincom’s MIMS v4.3.1.2 to v6, which will be a MOTS adaptation of v5 Ellipse. 5. Phase 2D Identify and address remaining capability shortfalls through a program of work to upgrade, replace, rationalise and introduce new capability. These four facets of Phase 2D: upgrade, replace, rationalise and introduce capability are not necessarily complementary and will create some tensions in the development of Options. These four facets of Phase 2D: upgrade, replace, rationalise and introduce capability are not necessarily complementary and will create some tensions in the development of Options.

8. This is the options matrix developed as a result of initial work. Each approach has been tested against existing or known solutions and the results have been assessed as follows:
Full solution
Partial solution
Integrated with Core Ellipse
Not integrated, ie interfacing required
High level costs have been attributed to each option.
Early indications are that the optimum solution is unaffordable within the DCP allocation.
All High priority capability deficiencies can be addressed; however fully satisfying the High priority deficiencies will severely limit the ability to address Medium and Low priorities.
No cost saving strategies have been explored at this stage as the Option set has not been established.
