DDR Program Overview • Began in 1994 to support “The Air Force Family” within 30 miles of an Air Force Facility. • Expanded to include entire CAP organization with emphasis on the Cadet Program.
DDR Vision and Mission • VISION • To be a leading force in America’s drug demand reduction strategy through education and development of tomorrow’s leaders in volunteer community service for a drug-free world. • MISSION STATEMENT • The Civil Air Patrol Drug Demand Reduction Program assists squadrons, groups, wings, and regions to instill an aggressive, positive, drug free attitude in CAP members, AF families, DoD civilians, and school age children through a comprehensive program that: • Promotes CAP as a positive community service lifestyle. • Encourages youth to remain in school. • Focuses on drug abuse education, prevention, and awareness. • Provides positive activities as an alternative to drugs and gang violence.

Implementing a DDR Program • Set up meeting with unit commander • Explain the program and the benefits • “Close the sale” • Don’t stop there – sell it to the staff and members

Develop a Budget • All units should have a DDR budget • In some cases, funding available from AF Surgeon General’s Office • Grants (grants.gov) • Local fundraisers
Measuring Success • Reports should include details of the activity including: • Activity • Date • Location • Number of CAP Cadets/Senior Members and others attending the event • Number of military families attending the event • Type of DDR information disseminated • End-of-Year Reports
Continuity Books • Great tracking tool to ensure your program is on track • Used in Unit Inspections • Contains documentation of DDR Program • Provides historical information

There is a war on drugs! In CAP, we have over 55,000 troops. We just need to get them armed!
