    Slide 2:Cats

    Cats are small, mainly carnivorous animals. They are popular as a household pet and are valuable for catching mice and rats. The domestic cat, like other members of the cat family, possess the following characteristics: The natural life span of a domestic cat is about 15 years. Cats can live either indoors or outdoors.

    Slide 3:Dogs

    Dogs are considered to be the first domesticated animal. They learned to live with humans more than 14,000 years ago. There are more than 300 breeds of dogs. Dogs can be grouped into several categories. These categories might include: Sporting Hound Working Terrier Toy Non-Sporting Herding Miscellaneous Physical Characteristics Domestic dogs vary widely in appearance, especially in size. Coat color, length, texture, and pattern also vary greatly. All dogs, however, have the same body structure. Like cats, dogs need love and attention. Dogs can live either indoors or outdoors.

    Slide 4:Birds

    Birds have feathers and wings. Although other animals, bats and insects, have wings, birds are the only animals with feathers. Some bird characteristics include: feathers, wings, four-chambered hearts, lay and hatch eggs, and warm-blooded. Breast bone: Supports the flight muscles. Tail: Helps with flight and with landing. Beak: Used to preen (clean) their feathers and to eat. Toes: Useful for grasping perches, swimming, capturing prey, and carrying and manipulating food. Wings: Enables flight. Note: You can insert charts, picture backgrounds, sounds and animate objects to increase the visual and audio impact of your slide collection.
