  4. Acharyas The Acharyas who came later at different periods in history codified traditions and showed the world the message given in the Scriptures according to the time and place they were born. These traditions are carried on till this day with their successors donning the mantle of delineating the Scriptural knowledge to the masses in an easy, practical manner relevant to the times. AdiShankaracharya JagadguruAdiShankaracharya, the greatest philosopher that India has ever produced was a religious reformer, a poet, a mystic and a devotee of the 8th century A.D. His thoughts and ideas have been a constant source of knowledge for the followers of Advaita philosophy, or non-dualism.   5. Buddhist Masters Buddhism is a religion based on the teachings of Gautam Buddha between the sixth and fourth centuries BCE. The main aim of Buddhism is to help sentient beings eliminate suffering by removing ignorance and desires and attaining Nirvana or enlightenment. There are three main branches of Buddhism-Theravada(teachings of the elders), Mahayana(the great vehicle) and Vajrayana(the thunderbolt vehicle). Sometimes Vajrayana is also referred to as a part of Mahayana.   6. Devotees MeeraBai MeeraBai or Meerabai (1498 - 1547) was a Rajput princess of Mewar, Rajasthan. She was an ardent devotee of Lord Krishna and amongst the first exponents of PremaBhakti or Divine Love. As an inspired poet, she used to sing in vraja-bhasha (mixed with Rajasthani), in praise of GiridharaGopala. At a very young age, she had developed in her heart the most intense love and devotion for GiridharaGopala. MeeraBai is regarded as an incarnation of Radha. She occupies a sacred place in the history of Indian culture for her passionate and persistent spiritual devotion, against all odds. MeeraBai is equally revered for her poetic genius. Her unflinching devotion to Lord Krishna is rendered in all her songs. Her odes and hymns are characterized by tenderness and simplicity of genuine outpouring of a heart completely dedicated to god. Modern Thinkers Swami DayanandaSaraswati DayanandaSaraswati (February 12, 1824 - October 31, 1883) was an important Hindu religious scholar and the founder of the AryaSamaj, "Society of Nobles", a Hindu reform movement, founded in 1875. Aryasamaj founded by him produced 79% of the freedom fighters who were responsible for the independence of India. He was a sanyasi (renunciate) from his boyhood, and a scholar, who believed in the infallible authority of the Vedas. Dayananda advocated the doctrine of karma, skepticism in dogma, and emphasised the ideals of brahmacharya (celibacy and devotion to God). The Theosophical Society and the AryaSamaj were united for a certain time under the name Theosophical Society of the AryaSamaj. His original name was Mool Shankar.   9. Rushi- Men Vedavyasa Vedavyasa or Vyasa was born approximately around 3100 B.C. Numerous works have been attributed to Vedavyasa. He is known by many names such as KrushnaDvaipayana, Badarayana, Parashara and BhagvanVyasa. However, the most popular and famous among them is Vyasa. The Sanskrit name Vedavyasa literally means the compiler of the Vedas. It is also widely believed that Vedavyasa was an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Vedavyasa or Vyasa was born approximately around 3100 B.C. Numerous works have been attributed to Vedavyasa.   10. Rushi Scientists Aryabhata Aryabhata was one of the greatest mathematicians and astronomers of Ancient India whose works are still referred to by the modern scholars. He is mostly known for his contribution in the field of astronomy as the head of an astronomical observatory in Ujjain, the leading communication network centre of Gupta dynasty. Aryabhata set a stepping stone towards the advancement of astronomy in India which is a matter of utmost pride and gratitude. Such is the influence of this great scientist in the genre of astronomy, that the first satellite launched by India (19th April 1975) was named after Aryabhata. Simultaneously, the International Astronomical Union has named a lunar crater after him. The residue of a lunar impact crater situated in the eastern Mare Tranquillitatis is named Aryabhata to pay homage to the scientist. marketing@rockmaxpan.com

  11. Rushi Women Lopamudra Lopamudra was the wife of Sage Agasthya. Legend says that once the Devas and Asuras were at war with each other. Many Asuras were killed in battle and a few of them hid themselves in the ocean. Indra,the Lord of the Gods gave an order to Agni the God of fire to pursue them and destroy them. Thinking that destroying them would destroy all the sea creatures Agni returned to Indra and informed him that he had let them go rather than hurting the creatures in the sea. During the Vedic period women were assigned a very prominent and high place in society and shared a equal standing with the menfolk. The Hindu philosophical concept of Shakti or the feminine principle of energy was greatly revered and there were scholars and highly intelligent women who chose the path of Vedic studies like Gargi, Maitreyi, Lopamudra, Ghosha etc. marketing@rockmaxpan.com

  12. Saints SantKabir SantKabir is one of the greatest mystic poet saints of India and his name evokes reverence and love for the Lord among millions even today. He was considered the unifying factor across the three major religions of Hinduism, Islam and Sikhism in Ancient India. The name Kabir originates from the Arabic word ‘Al Kabir’ meaning ‘The Great’ which is the 37th name of God in Islam. Legends surround his birth and death. Some say that he grew up in a Muslim weaver community while others say that he was actually the son of a Brahmin widow who was adopted by a childless couple. Still others say that he was of virgin birth. The most common and accepted version was that he was said to have been born on the full moon day in the month of Jyeshta in the year 1398 AD. marketing@rockmaxpan.com

  13. Sikh Gurus Guru Nanak After the decline of Buddhism in India, non violence, love and compassion too began to decline in the Indian society. The Hindu leaders became the custodians of religion and its teachings and reduced the religion to rites and rituals and superstitious ceremonies. They neglected teaching the spiritual realities to the people and religion became confused with caste distinction and the privilege of only the upper class called the Brahmins. Since the sacred religious books were written only in Sanskrit, they could not be understood by the masses.   14. Yog gurus Sri YukteswarGiri Sri YukteswarGiri was one of the greatest modern-age spiritual teachers of KriyaYog. Sri YukteswarGiri rose to spiritual fame in the late 19th Century, and was also the spiritual guru of ParamahansaYogananda, ParamahansaHariharananda and Swami SatyanandaGiri. Yogananda also revered Sri Yukteswar as ‘Jnanavatar’ or ‘Incarnation of Wisdom’. Sri YukteswarGiri, also spelled SriyukteshvarGiri and SriyukteswarGiri, was the monastic name of PriyanathKarar who was not only a spiritual guru but also blessed with multiple qualities. He was an astronomer, an educator, a Jyotish (Vedic astrologer), a yogi, and a firm believer in the principles of BhagavadGita.
