Now they have to incorporate cloud computing, but simultaneously, shouldn’t relinquish their control over the way their systems handle processing, storage and retention of data. Contents 1 The roles have evolved CIOs The roles have evolved CIOs In today’s business market, CIOs have been afforded the luxury of regaining control of the situation. In the past, rogue clouds were the real deal. Departments used to go around IT specialists in order to merge with SaaS and IaaS cloud providers. Things have gradually changed, because IT has to deal with the fact that there are literally hundreds of cloud services that are now required to have these managers look after them. Is this what you want? Basically, you should really think hard and deep about these considerations. Due to the changing times, you probably don’t want to be a CIO in today’s world. Your role is to handle the responsibility of transferring a cloud for the obvious operational and strategic benefits. However, because of the fact that your budget isn’t usually allowed to be increased, it just gives you more of headache and hassle to deal with. You basically have only two choices 1/2
1. Take control of the situation: Anything that your organization utilizes should be under your management, this includes any use of cloud systems. When you are in control of such operations, it is important to remember that there are literally thousands of applications to take into consideration. This will take a considerable amount of time energy and perseverance. 2. Just let go of control You have to become a broker of sorts essentially. You have to support all of your departments as far as cloud supporting goes. You have to receive and accept all of the cloud offerings that are presented to you. Security and governance need to be taken into consideration, however these can’t mess with your use of your systems. If you decide to go with this option, you are going to sacrifice your budget. In the corporate world, that can become a big problem for your career. Budget shows that the company’s organizational power has extreme importance. Here is the problem Having control is awesome, it feels good. But when all is said and done, decentralization for the use of public cloud services is ineffective. This is the reason why, corporate IT isn’t ready to handle the responsibilities of dealing with clouds. The overall demand from the departments can overload IT’s ability to keep up. Because of this, the idea of “taking back control” strategy simply won’t be successful in the long run. Because of this, CIOs are going to be forced to look into another alternative. 1. CMOs are going to seriously be a problem for the CIOs 2. The advancement of mobile technology is another major factor to consider 3. Cloud computing is ultimately be the downfall of CIOs 4. Big data and the masters that are responsible for it, Strategically speaking, you have to creates a huge problem 5. Business transformer issues are something to seriously take into consideration 6. If you are going to be a customer advocate and expert, you need to let the potential customer fully understand why they should do business with your organization. 7. Utilize the benefits of how the new HCM outlooks can fully bring your business to a new level. 8. Take advantage of social media and the analytics associated with them can transform you opportunities 9. Strategically speaking, you have to bring the business from an outlook of passive, to that of opportunity. From everything from SLAs, to the expansion of revenue, you have to turn a “no,” into a “yes.” 2/2
