  2. Facebook

  3. Social Networking- What is it? • Social networking is how most people, both young and old, communicate. Many Christians enjoy using this service. • Social networking is placing individuals into specific groups based on friendship, community, religion, or other commonalities.

  4. Social Networking- What is it? • People set up profiles, chat with each other, share pictures, play games, make status updates, and more. • To a worldly person, social networking may seem completely innocuous. • The Christian, however, knows better. There are very real dangers to this.

  5. John 17:13-16  But now I come to You; and these things I speak in the world so that they may have My joy made full in themselves. I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I do not ask You to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

  6. James 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

  7. Romans 12:1-2 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

  8. Colossians 4:5-6 Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.

  9. Social Networking from the Christian’s Viewpoint • This applies all the time, not just on days that we assemble with the saints, or when we are with other Christians, or when we are online. • There are dangers and benefits of using social networking. • In this lesson, we will study these dangers and benefits, so that we can be better prepared.
