Style of Art • Wang Yani paints pictures today with ink and bamboo brushes. In her paintings usually appear animals such as monkeys. Yani’s style of art is sumi painting. One of her paintings even made a postage stamp that was issued to China in 1983!
Background • Wang Yani was born in Gongcheng, China in 1975. During her early childhood, she started a strong talent of painting. She was inspired by her father, Zheng Zhensun’s many paintings. She did not go to art school, and growing up with all the beauty of her hometown of Gongcheng had influenced her art in a big way. She also taught herself art by starting out at the early age of 2½.

My Opinions • I liked my artist, Wang Yani because her paintings are lively and always delivers a message. For example: some paintings feed off from Yani’s emotions. And she must like animals because in every one of her paintings, there are animals.
