R&D + Private Marketplace Commercialization SBIR Pilot Testing in Classrooms
Since 2012, half of all ED/IES SBIR awards have been for the R&D of of learning games.
Millions of students in tens of thousands of schools have used SBIR-supported learning games.
Some Recent TRENDS •Genres: puzzles, roleplaying adventure, strategy, story-based, simulations, sandbox virtual environments •Innovations: intelligent tutors, VR, AR, wearables, 3D printing, speech recognition •Accommodations: for students at risk for disabilities •Personalized, differentiated, and scaffolded learning, with embedded formative and summative assessments, real-time results & feedback •Multi-player collaborative learning opportunities •Teacher dashboards to guide instruction
