2. Why Italy? After several viewings of the film “Under the Tuscan Sun”, I realized how much I longed to return to Italy. Over ten years ago , I visited Rome and Florence, but I never made it to the coast or countryside. On this trip, my boyfriend and I decided to further explore “La Bella Italia.” We went to Rome, Tuscany, the Amalfi Coast, and traced our family roots in Sicily.

3. Andiamo in Italia! • depart from Newark on Alitalia • arrive in Rome the following morning and check-in at the hotel • spend the day walking, looking at the ancient parts of the city, and enjoying the great Italian cuisine at a local café

4. TOSCANO • pick-up rental car and drive to our secluded villa in Tuscany • meet our guests, enjoy more food and wine

5. “The Villa” • explore the ancient footpaths around the villa, take photographs. • sample olives and grapes, wine tasting at local vineyard • spend the rest of the day at leisure

6. SiennaThe Piazza del Campo The site of the famous “Palio” horserace, where ancient racing clubs still compete for the honor of the city.

7. Florence • Uffizzi Gallery, Duomo • view artwork of Michelangelo, Leonardo, and great Renaissance Masters • shop at the Ponte Vecchio • see Arno River and Boboli Gardens

8. Amalfi Coast • depart for Amalfi • drive five hours on Autostrada • see Napoli, Positano • bask in the sun on Costa Amalfitana

9. Sicily • arrive in Messina via ferry from Calabria • Norman Cathedral and Ancient Harbor • Greek ruins at Tindari and Agrigento • see the towns our ancestors came from and visit long-lost relatives

10. Dreams of Italy Italy was a chance to.… • learn about our family history • meet new friends and family • relax with my boyfriend • experience the joys of this beautiful country A fantastic trip, we’ll be back! CIAO!
