  1. Serial Port connection  Serial Port connection allows you to access shared devices on computers across your  network. To establish such a connection you need special software. See below the guide on  how to do it with the help of Serial to Ethernet Connector.  Start with launching the application, in the window displayed find ‘Create Server Connection’  option and choose it.   The app will suggest setting up your connection, basic parameters you need to set up  include:   Connection Name. Identifies the connection. Note that the default name is given based on  the connection type and the local serial port number.   Select Serial Port. The port to be shared, specify it by either typing in its name or selecting it  from the list.       Create as Virtual Port. Virtual ports are convenient, their number is unlimited and there is hardly  any difference between them and real hardware ones. But check that the app you are feeding  data in recognizes nonstandard names of COM ports.   Strict baudrate emulation. Required to synchronize speed of virtual and physical ports, this will  protect you from losing data.   TCP Port. This is the port your server will listen to. If you are not sure which one to choose, do  not modify the value.     If you want to know more about Advanced Settings, refer to this material –  http://wiki.eltima.com/userguides/secpc/serveradvanced.html  Clicking ‘Create Connection’ should display it in the Connections Tree. Additionally you can  open the local serial port to check – make use of Windows HyperTerminal or Advanced Serial  Port Terminal by Eltima.     The only thing left is creating ‘Client’ connection at the remote end. Make sure to match the host  name and port number with those you entered when setting up ‘Server’ connection.
