What is Fly AshBlocks? Fly ash blocks are a building material, specifically masonry units, containing class C or class F fly ash and water. Compressed at 28 MPa and cured for 24 hours in a 66 °C steam bath, then toughened with an air entrainment agent, the bricks last for more than 100 freeze-thaw cycles. In other word it is a masonry unit that is used in the construction of buildings. They are considered to be a part of good and affordable building materials. Mixing Proportion for Fly Ash Bricks • Fly ash – 57 to 65% • River Sand or Stone dust – 18 to 27% • Hydrated Lime – 9 to 12 %Gypsum – 5% • This is the widely practiced mix proportion to make quality fly ash bricks. Fly Ash bricks are made by following process: Fly ash reacts with lime in the presence of moisture to form calcium silicate hydrate which is the binder material. The raw mix is molded in the molding press/machine, pressed under a pressure into bricks.
