Tugain Solution (Generic Minoxidil Topical Solution) is a medication that increases new hair growth in cases of hereditary hair loss in men aged 18 to 49 years who have general thinning of hair at the vertex of the scalp. This medicine is used to help hair growth in the treatment of male pattern baldness. Tugain Topical Solution (Generic Minoxidil Topical Solution) Uses of Tugain 2%, 5% and 10% Solution: Tugain Solution (Generic Minoxidil Topical Solution) applied to the scalp is used to stimulate hair growth in in the treatment of male pattern baldness in men aged 18 to 49 years. It is not used for baldness at the front of the scalp or receding hairline in men. Minoxidil belongs to a class of medicines known as vasodilators. The exact way that this medicine works is not known. This medication is not used for sudden/patchy hair loss, unexplained hair loss (for example, if you have no family history of hair loss). If hair growth is going to occur with the use of Minoxidil, it usually occurs after the medicine has been used for several months and lasts only as long as the medicine continues to be used. Hair loss will begin again within a few months after Minoxidil treatment is stopped. Do not use this product if you are 18 years old or younger. Tugain Topical Solution (Generic Minoxidil Topical Solution) Recommended Adult Dosage Tugain Solution Tugain Solution (Generic Minoxidil Topical Solution) should be applied when the hair and scalp are clean and dry. Apply 1 ml of Tugain solution twice daily at 12-hour intervals to the scalp, beginning at the centre of the affected area and spreading the solution out to cover the entire affected area. Remove the large outer cap on the Tugain solution bottle, and then remove the inner cap. Insert the dropper applicator into the bottle and squeeze the rubber bulb.Release the bulb, allowing Tugain solution to fill up to the 1 ml mark. Gradually pour the solution from the dropper onto the centre of the area where the hair is thin. Spread it evenly with your fingertips. To prevent the solution from running off the scalp, apply a small amount at a time. Tugain Topical Solution (Generic Minoxidil Topical Solution) Recommended Adult Dosage For best results, Tugain Solution Tugain Solution (Generic Minoxidil Topical Solution) should be allowed to remain on the scalp for about 4 hours before washing. The night-time application should be done 2 to 4 hours before going to bed to allow the medication to dry out. Tugain solution should be massaged gently into the scalp. A hair dryer should not be used to speed up the drying of the solution as it may decrease the effectiveness. Tugain solution should not be mixed with any hair oil. Tugain Topical Solution (Generic Minoxidil Topical Solution) Recommended Adult Dosage The medication should not be used more frequently than two times a day, or be taken orally or applied to any other part of the body to avoid the risk of adverse effects and unwanted hair growth. Wash your hands immediately after the application of Tugain solution. Clinical experience with Minoxidil indicates that twice-daily applications for 4 months or more may be required before there is evidence of hair growth. To arrest hair fall, Tugain solution should be used for not less than 45 days. Tugain Topical Solution (Generic Minoxidil Topical Solution) Contraindications ➔Tugain solution is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to Minoxidil or any component of the tablet. ➔Tugain solution is also contraindicated in individuals with treated or untreated hypertension ➔Administration of Tugain solution is contraindicated in individuals whose baldness is not due to hereditary factors, in individuals with any scalp abnormality (including psoriasis and sunburn), in individuals with a shaved scalp or whose scalp’s skin is broken, inflamed, irritated, infected, or severely sunburned. ➔Tugain solution should not be used if occlusive dressings or other topical therapeutic medications for treating disorders of the skin of the scalp are being used.   12. Tugain Topical Solution (Generic Minoxidil Topical Solution) Warnings Tugain solution (Generic Minoxidil topical solution) may cause dizziness. This effect may be worse if you take it along with alcohol or certain other medicines. Use Tugain solution with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it. Minoxidil solution is more likely to cause scalp irritation. In case scalp irritation continues or worsen, use of Tugain solution should be stopped. Use of Tugain solution should be stopped if the patient develops chest pain, rapid heartbeat, faintness or dizziness, sudden and unexplained weight gain, swollen hands or feet or persistent redness. Tugain solution contains alcohol, which will cause burning and irritation of the eyes. In case of accidental contact with sensitive surfaces (such as eyes, abraded skin and mucous membranes), the area should be rinsed with large amounts of cool tap water. Hair sprays or hair styling aids may be used on the hair while using this medicine, but for best results, it must be allowed to penetrate into the scalp before using any styling products. Do not use Minoxidil solution for 24 hours after any perm or colour treatment to make sure that any chemicals used have not irritated the scalp. In case no irritation has taken place, continue use of Minoxidil solution. Tugain Topical Solution (Generic Minoxidil Topical Solution) Overdosage Overdosage with Tugain solution (Minoxidil solution) results from systemic absorption, which may occur if topical Minoxidil is applied more frequently than indicated or if it is applied to large surface areas of the body or areas other than the scalp. There is no data of Minoxidil overdosage resulting from topical administration. Signs and symptoms of Minoxidil overdosage because of accidental ingestion or deliberate overdose would primarily be cardiovascular effects associated with sodium and water retention. Tachycardia, hypotension, dizziness and lethargy can also occur. Treatment should include diuretic therapy to manage fluid retention and beta-adrenergic-blocking drugs for controlling clinically significant tachycardia. Minoxidil and its metabolites are haemodialysable.   17. Tugain Topical Solution (Generic Minoxidil Topical Solution) Tugain Topical Solution During Pregnancy Minoxidil solution (Tugain solution) is classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category C. Animal studies with oral Minoxidil have not revealed any evidence of teratogenicity, but reduced conception rates and an increased incidence of fetal absorption have been observed in rabbits given 5 times the usual human oral dose. Oral administration of Minoxidil has been associated with hypertrichosis in the newborn infant following exposure in utero. The safety of topical Minoxidil in pregnancy has not been established, therefore Minoxidil topical solution should not be used by pregnant women.
