Gas Lift Beds: Quick Overview Before anything else, let’s have a quick overview of what a Gas Lift Bed is and which types of beds use a gas lifting mechanism. A Gas Lift bed uses a piston lift and hydraulics mechanism to raise the entire surface of the bed, revealing an extra storage space. Gas Lifts are typically used by an Ottoman storage bed, which you can custom order from our catalogue too. A Gas Lift Bed has two main types: ● End Gas Lifts (Footboard raise) ● Side Gas Lifts (Open from the Side) How to Assemble Gas Lift Beds In assembling our products, you don’t need more than a screwdriver, a spanner, and the parts, which will be delivered right to your doorstep. Before you start, just some quick safety precautions we implore you to observe. Safety Precaution: Clear the floor for assembling First, make sure all your posh and expensive items are clear from any heartbreak (and literal break, like glass shattered break). This will also help you ensure you do not cause any unwanted accidents and bumps to yourself or others. SOURCE: https://thebedvillageyorkshire.co.uk/how-to-assemble-gas-lift-beds/
Safety Precaution: Clear all children from the area Obviously, all our items and products must be handled by adults who are capable of using tools that can be sharp or choking hazards. Make sure all children are clear from the area before you begin using sharp objects and choking hazards. There are more safety precautions you should check to ensure you are safe, your loved ones are safe, and your beloved comfort companion product is safe. Safety Precaution: Wear appropriate clothes and get a partner A Gas Lift Bed works with pistons, which can be dangerous if not installed incorrectly as it can slam shut on your fingers. To prevent any instances, make sure you wear proper footwear and get an assembling partner to do the lifting and installing with you. Two hands are better than one! Assembling: Lay out the parts and screws A Gas Lift bed needs a screwdriver, spanner, screws, and steel bars/rails that support the piston’s lever movement. Make sure all your parts are complete as stated in the leaflets provided and all the screw holes have the corresponding number of screws. Assembling: Screw the rails on each side of the hollow frame Each set of steel bars needs to be screwed into each side of the hollow frame of the Ottoman Divan. Make sure the rails create a triangular shape, with the angle facing towards the headboard to make the lifting efficient. Assembling: Screw the Piston on the top rail and secure the surface metal frame The top bar or rail that connects to the surface of the bed frame holds the piston in place. Make sure to screw in the piston tightly on its body to the bar on the surface of the inside. When the piston is in place, get your partner and lift the metal frame that will serve as the bed’s surface and secure the metal frame with screws on the rails. Assembling: Attach and Clip the Ottoman bases together An Ottoman Divan Bed with a Gas Lift is typically two hollow wooden bases that need to be clipped and screwed together. After you attach the pistons, position the bases and clip them together. Afterward, secure the clips by screwing in the 100mm bolt underneath the edges of the bases. Assembling: Attach and secure the headboard and footboard Make sure you attach the headboard and footboard last when all the pistons and the wooden base are secured. Use the 100mm bolts and screw them from the back of each board to the screwholes on the bases parallel to it. Finishing: Place the strap on the footboard When you are sure that the piston lifting is working, finish the process by attaching the strap to the footboard of the metal frame. This will allow you to lift the surface of the bed whenever you need to use the storage underneath. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Now that you’re done assembling your Gas Lift Bed (or still have questions because you’re scared to begin), let’s see if you have any concerns that have already been answered by our team of bed specialists. Are Gas Lift Beds heavier? Yes, Gas Lift Beds are typically heavier as their frames are bulkier and the hollow wooden base is sturdier. This is to make sure that the piston lift does not fail when you need to lift a heavy mattress. Can I assemble a Gas Lift Bed on my own? We do not recommend doing this on your own. As you can see from the parts (if you’re just browsing and haven’t bought one yet), the frame is large and it needs to be lifted and screwed in. One set of hands definitely cannot both lift and screw in the frame. It is best to do this with two or more people. SOURCE: https://thebedvillageyorkshire.co.uk/how-to-assemble-gas-lift-beds/
Do I need more tools to assemble a Gas Lift Bed? You will only need a screwdriver, and a spanner. Then, of course, all of the bed parts. So you don’t need many tools to do this. We also do our best to deliver the parts in convenient sizes right at your doorstep. So that all you need is a partner, some appropriate clothes, and a safe space.
