So, while for most part of the century, ties were part of the formal dress code. But lately after state leaders, public figures and many others have endorsed the no tie look in boardrooms and elsewhere, ties are becoming a fashion accessory.
Out of all the kinds of tie, the designer skinny tie has to be most popular when it comes to a styled look. Men and boys everywhere have started to wear the skinny tie to parties, social dos; even black carpet events are seeing a rise in skinny black ties. A slimmer tie has started to mean a fashion forward gentleman who knows his fashion. It lends an edge to your style statement. But let’s look at some tips on the kinds of skinny ties and how to wear one properly.
Kinds of Skinny Ties There are three types of designer skinny ties- narrow, skinny and slim. The narrow tie that can go up to 3.25 inches is the beginner’s level to this kind of tie and is the safest bet if you are trying only to dabble with this style. Next, the slim tie which is mostly between 2 to 2.5 inches is the perfect balance if you’re more experimental than the narrow tie but haven’t quite reached the skinny stage.
Depending upon the occasion and the kind of dress shirts you wear, the fabric is an important decision before buying a skinny tie. You have the option of silk, cotton, microfiber, wool, knit cotton etc. While the cotton is for you to make a style statement on a summer day, the wool is to be tucked away neatly under your winter coat. So if you’re above 6’3” or 190 cm, then go for a tie that is longer than 58 inches. For everyone else, a designer skinny tie between 56 and 58 inches will suit you perfectly. You can always work on the knot to adjust the length. Length-
These should always be narrower than the tie itself and shouldn’t be too snazzy or bling-y. The tie clip should be an elegant addition to your suit and should be worn as an understated look. Make sure you get a tie clip that matches your suit buttons and/or your cuff links. Tie Bars/Clips-
Yes, a thin little piece of fabric can make your look but you need to be aware that for a formal look, you can’t afford to go too skinny. Also, designer skinny ties don’t really suit men with a bulkier body; these are for the slender men. Don’t wear them with broad collars. If you’re wearing a skinny tie without a jacket, you can experiment with bold colors, don’t choose patterns. For more fashionable ties, log on to websites such as tiesnsuch.co.uk
