  2. THE NETHERLANDS HAS A RICH HISTORY OF ART MOVEMENTS, WITH SOME LEAVING A LASTING GLOBAL IMPACT. HERE ARE SOME OF THE MOST PROMINENT ONES: DUTCH GOLDEN AGE PAINTING (1620-1680): • THIS PERIOD IS CONSIDERED THE GOLDEN AGE OF DUTCH ART. IT WAS A TIME OF GREAT WEALTH AND PROSPERITY IN THE NETHERLANDS, AND THIS IS REFLECTED IN THE ART OF THE TIME.

  3. DE STIJL (1917-1931): DE STIJL, ALSO KNOWN AS NEOPLASTICISM, WAS AN ART MOVEMENT FOUNDED IN THE NETHERLANDS IN 1917. DE STIJL ARTISTS BELIEVED THAT ART SHOULD BE BASED ON PURE ABSTRACTION AND GEOMETRY.

  4. THE HAGUE SCHOOL (1860-1890): THE HAGUE SCHOOL WAS A GROUP OF DUTCH ARTISTS WHO PAINTED REALISTIC SCENES OF EVERYDAY LIFE IN THE NETHERLANDS. THEY WERE INFLUENCED BY THE BARBIZON SCHOOL OF FRENCH PAINTING, AND THEIR WORK IS CHARACTERIZED BY ITS USE OF MUTED COLORS AND ITS FOCUS ON THE NATURAL WORLD.
