What is Facebook? . A social networking site created on February 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg. . Allows you to create a profile, post pictures and chat with friends. . In addition, you have access to play games such as – Farmville, Cafeworld,MafiaWars, etc..
Uses: • Facebook is used by many people to advertise themselves, about their product, any brand or anything which they want to get people know….
How do you know if you are addicted? • You don’t accomplish what you need to get done during the day • You automatically type in the URL to facebook when you go on the internet • You want to be on the site all the time • All you can think about is what your friends have posted or will post and your ranks in various games played.
Additction: • Today’s generation children are addicted to facebook. • Status updates are done on an average every 15 min by an individual.. • Within a hour they check their account more than 100 times. • DO you know why it has become so important to share information via social sites???? Is this the only medium by which people are more comfortable…..? • If Facebook have led to crime, then facebook have also solved many unsolved crime mysteries. • Our information/details can reach out to such a person who can easily misuse it.
Effects of being on Facebook for too long • You don’t finish homework • Your grades can drop • You can develop carpal tunnel syndrome • Eye Strain
What we can do to help with Facebook Addiction • Recognize that you have a problem • Limit the time you spend on the internet and Facebook • Designate a timeframe • Have an accountability partner if you cannot do it alone. • Keep watch for our friends
They are too much addicted that they share their minute to minute moment with facebook…
Today’s generation’s most important words are ‘Likes’, ‘Comments’, ‘tag’ , ‘share’….

The whole world is sinking in this pit of sites. Their use is good but over use can make that much addictive so that you will never gain patience in your life..
Tips for Safer Social Networking • Use a strong, unique password (don’t use the same password on multiple sites; don’t use ID password on social networking sites) • Provide as little personal information as possible – avoid revealing birth date, address, etc. • Understand and customize the privacy settings in all of your social networking accounts • Don’t allow 3rd party applications to accessyour information (if possible) • Be careful about what you post • Photos of self or others • Opinions on controversial topics • Don’t rip classmates, professors, coworkers,employers, etc. – it WILL come back to haunt you • Don’t post anything related to youremployer (unless you’re authorized) • Supervise your kids’ use of socialnetworking sites
Tips for Safer Social Networking • Be suspicious of friend/follow requests, ads, 3rd party applications, chat messages, etc. • Minimize exploration – don’t carelessly click on lots of ads, videos, games, etc. • Use built-in and add-on features in web browsers to warn you of malicious sites • Anti-phishing filters in IE and Firefox • Web of Trust • NoScript • Adblock Plus • Preview features of bit.ly, TinyURL • Trend Micro Web ReputationsServices is your friend • Google yourself and scrutinize results • Think before you click!!
Conclusion • In my opinion, the value far outweighs the risk. I’d even say the dangers are exaggerated. • Use social networking effectively and positively to establish new relationships, strengthen existing ones, innovate, learn, collaborate, and have fun. • But beware of the risks so you can do your best to steer clear of them • And think before you click!!
