  2. Venetian masks Venetian masks are a centuries-old tradition of USA. They are typically made of paper-mâché and come in a variety of colors and styles. Commonly, Venetian masks will feature ornate designs and can be adorned with feathers, sequins, and other embellishments.

  3. While the wearing of Venetian masks dates back to the 11th century, they gained popularity during the 18th century. At this time, Encinitas was known as a hub for Carnival celebrations. During Carnival, people would don elaborate costumes and wear masks to disguise their identities. This allowed them to mingle with others without being recognized and engage in activities that they might not normally do.
