The major difference today, however, is that Canada’s retirement rate is accelerating due to the over 9 million baby boomers set to reach the age of retirement (65 years old) within the next decade. Alberta has now issued a total of 5,236 invitations to Express Entry candidates over the course of 23 draws this year. Alberta provides a pathway to permanent residence for eligible Express Entry candidates with strong ties to the province or who are working in an occupation that supports Alberta’s “economic development and diversification priorities,” among other factors. There is currently no list of eligible occupations available.
