  1. Asphalt Drum Mix plant The Asphalt Drum Mix plant produces Hot Mix Asphalt in a continuous process by making use of the cold aggregates, liquid bitumen, and minerals in varying proportions. The cold aggregates are first heated and then mixed with bitumen and minerals for the required mix. The Hot Mix Asphalt in the Drum Mix Plant is produced in a continuous process. What is asphalt? It is basically a dark adhesive substance that mainly constitutes of bitumen. It is used for paving roads. The bitumen is obtained in both natural as well as manufactured form, however, the one available in nature is the by-product of petroleum. It is the water-resistant nature and the binding capacity of the asphalt that makes up for its extensive usage in road construction. The asphalt produced should be able to have the characteristic to bear the wear and tear from the tyres, brake efficiency etc. Functioning of Asphalt Drum Mix Plant: The aggregates, asphalt, and mineral fillers are the key ingredients which are constantly fed into the rotating drum that produces Hot Mix Asphalt.

  2. The aggregates are transferred from the feeder bins through the conveyor to the rotating drum. The burner then removes the moisture from the aggregate and the aggregate is further heated until it reaches the optimum temperature. The feeder bins, pumping tank associated with the asphalt tank and the mineral filler units are built to provide the materials in the right proportions. The hot aggregate is then coated with asphalt and other mineral fillers. The hot mix asphalt is then transferred from the drum to the trucks. The dust released during the process is collected and pumped to the pollution control unit before it escapes into the air. High care needs to be taken to produce the asphalt with desired results by maintaining optimum temperature, ideal feed rate, and efficient drum mixing.
