Over the course of his career he has been involved in several associations including the Mortgage Bankers Association, the Mortgage Brokers Association, as well as numerous real estate organizations. He was elected Syracuse City Auditor in 2003 by a large margin in a city-wide race and was re-elected 2007, receiving the highest number of votes cast among all candidates in all races.

He worked tirelessly to get his company accredited as an “FHA Approved Lender” in 1998 and in 2001 he grew the company to a mortgage banker, illustrating his work ethic and skill set. After starting his small mortgage broker business, The Funding Source Syracuse, LLC, in 1996, Phil LaTessa knew he had the dedication and commitment to growing his company. In 1998, he was able to get The Funding Source accredited as an “FHA Approved Lender” and by 2001 had grown the company to be a licensed Mortgage Banker in NYS.
The Funding Source Syracuse: Forging Entrepreneurial Success The Funding Source Syracusewas Philip LaTessa’s first foray into business and he started it in 1996. The Funding Source Syracuse was a small mortgage broker business and was grown by LaTessa into a business that now operates in areas of New York, Pennsylvania, Missouri, and North Carolina. Within just years of starting operation, Phil LaTessa had grown the company to become a licensed mortgage banker. This would be Phil LaTessa’s first of many business start-ups.
Phil LaTessa - Success After The Funding Source Phil LaTessa had successfully grown his small mortgage broker company, The Funding Source Syracuse, LLC, to become a mortgage banker in 2001. Following up on his success, he opened and successfully grew a real estate company the following year and then franchised it to turn it into a Weichert real estate firm, called Weichert, First Residential Group. In 2006, he opened a property management firm, an appraisal management firm, and a title insurance company.
