  2. What is Prepuce? • Prepuce is the skin covering over the tip of the penis (glans) in men. The hood over the clitoris in women is also called prepuce. Prepuce is also called as the foreskin. People with their prepuce intact are called uncut which is a slang. Copyright Dr Vijayant G Gupta

  3. WHAT ARE THE COMMON PREPUCE PROBLEMS? • Difficulty in sex – Ideally the prepuce will retract back exposing the glans and allow men to have sex. But in some men, the prepuce or foreskin will not retract back or will be painful making it difficult to have intercourse. • Cosmesis – Some men when adults, simply find the prepuce or foreskin to be cosmetically unappealing. • Phimosis – If the prepuce does not retract back – the condition is called phimosis. This may hinder with sex and hygiene. • Para Phimosis– Sometimes a tight prepuce when retracted forcefully may get stuck behind the glans, and cause swelling – a condition called paraphimosis. • Balanitis – A tight prepuce may cause recurrent infections in men leading to balanitis Copyright Dr Vijayant G Gupta

  4. WHAT IS THE TREATMENT FOR PHIMOSIS IN DELHI OR TIGHT FORESKIN? • The treatment for a tight foreskin or Phimosis or paraphimosis can be any of the following – • Circumcision – Read my excellent article here. • Dorsal Slit – Read more here. • Frenuloplasty – Read more here. 5. WHAT IS CIRCUMCISION? Circumcision is a surgical process performed for tight foreskin or phimosis. It is the surgical cure for phimosis. In circumcision, the circumcision surgeon will remove (cut) the foreskin or the prepuce and denude your glans. The prepuce or foreskin is removed. This will make your glans exposed after circumcision. Copyright Dr Vijayant G Gupta

  6. What are the types of Circumcision? • Conventional Circumcision – The prepuce is cut with a knife (COLD STEEL) and joint with catgut or vicryl sutures. These sutures are self dissolving and leave no scar after a few weeks. • Laser Circumcision – In this the cutting is done using a laser – conventionally the laser used in circumcision is CO2 or NdYag, but Thulium Laser can also be used. At my centre non fractionated CO2 laser by use of hand held laser probe is used for laser circumcision in Delhi. The laser generated energy to cut the skin of the tight prepuce. • Crush/Clamp and Anastomostat circumcision – In which circumcision is done by using special instruments that cut and seal like Gomco Clamp Circumcision/ Alkenklamp/or ZSR Clamp Circumcision. 7. What is ZSR Circumcision? ZSR is a special variant of clamps used for circumcision (anastomostat) developed by a Chinese company ZSR biomedical that crushes and cuts the foreskin. The cut and crushed foreskin is then left joint by metal clips, these clips act like sutures but will fall away in time leaving behind a cosmetically appealing scar and skin.
