  1. Tips to Speed up Wisdom Teeth Recovery Process

  2. DID YOU KNOW? According to the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, an estimated 85% of wisdom teeth will eventually need to be removed.

  3. Place gauze pad over the surgical area for half an hour immediately following the surgery. Moisten the gauze with tap water and loosely fluff for more comfortable positioning. Avoid rinsing your mouth vigorously or touching the wound area.

  4. Smoking increases the chances of dry socket and retards healing. So, stop smoking during the healing process. Maintain a proper oral hygiene by brushing your teeth regularly twice a day, but be gentle around the surgical sites. Begin salt water rinses 24 hours after surgery.

  5. Indulging in bending, lifting or other strenuous activities may increase the chances of bleeding, swelling and pain in the surgical area. Apply an ice bag or a bag of frozen peas to the cheek adjacent to the surgical area to reduce swelling.

  6. Avoid extremely hot, spicy foods and other eatables that cause discomfort. For the first few days after surgery, avoid using straw to drink fruit juices. Sip flat cola or ginger ale often to limit post-operative nausea.
