  2. the plates with or without napkin rings. Laying a Christmas cracker across each plate or place a bauble or sprig of mistletoe will brighten up each setting. These are all easy ways to bring in colour whilst only adding the essentials to your table. Considering the look that you want to achieve, you can personalise the place settings as much as you wish. Named place cards can be presented either on standard white card or on festive shaped card or even wooden shapes found in craft stores. Decorating your table is an important part of Christmas, as this is where the main meal will be spent, it should be adorned with all the festivities. Sitting amongst these cheerful decorations only heightens the magic of the special day. Colour Scheme Choosing a colour scheme is a great place to start when you begin thinking about decorating your table, you may choose the same colour scheme that you have set for your Christmas tree or if you don’t have a colour in mind, having a theme to work around works just as well. You can choose to go modern and glamourous or rustic and cosy. This colour or theme will then become the basis to the rest of your table settings, having a white tablecloth is ideal for all colours as it creates a blank canvas for you to work on and allows the settings to stand out and eliminates the chance off all your decorations blending into the background. A bare wooden table creates the same effect and works especially well if you are going with the rustic look, tablecloths however, allow you to easily clean up any spills by simply taking it off at the end of the day. A colourful runner can immediately add colour to your table and allow you something to work around, from as simple to as eccentric as you wish, you can determine how many additional decorations you want to add. Centrepieces Instead of having one piece in the middle of the table, having decorations down the runner on the table or if you do not have a runner, where the runner would go, creates length to the table. Candles and flowers are the easiest way to do this. Tall candles can be found in a variety of colours to match your scheme or white candles can be adorned around the base with berries or ribbon in your choice of colour. Plants and greenery help with the rustic theme, dried twigs with bright red berries scream winter and Christmas and are an easy and inexpensive decoration. Pinecones and mistletoe can also be added to this to extend the outdoorsy theme. Lights can be added to this centrepiece as well entwined around other candles or flowers to create a more festive ambiance. Place Settings Much like the white tablecloth, plain crockery will not only create a more put together and clean look, but it will allow for the rest of the decorations to pop. To avoid looking bland there are many variations to creating stylish place settings. You can have the plates rest on placemats coordinating with your colour scheme or have coloured napkins laying on whositfor.co.uk

  3. Finishing Touches If your table is still not up to your standards and you think you need more decorations, then get creative! Christmas tree decorations don’t have to be exclusive to the tree, having shining snowflakes or stars dotted around you table can add an element of glitz and glamour. You don’t have to go out and invest in tons of decorations for your table, look at the decorations you already have and how they could be incorporated into your table decorations. Festive confetti can be sprinkled over the whole table or tinsel surrounding the runner. If you enjoy crafts, you can create decorations out of felt or festive jar decorations with lights and berries. There is no limit to what you can create.
