Don't be a slave to your laptop's rigid design. Here's a 101 on laptop ergonomics.
E N D
First things First though Though often taken for granted, ergonomics is actually a useful discipline to consider, especially if you're the type of person who uses machines for extended periods.
First things First though What is ergonomics? Going by its technical definition, it is the study of how a human being interacts with any given system, be it environmental, sociological, or in our case, mechanical. Going further, ergonomics also deals with how best to streamline the interfacing between the human and overarching system.
For our purposes, we can simplify it as thus: It is in determining how comfortable a user can be while operating a computer optimally.
DESKTOP USERS Desktop users have it easy, as is mostly the case with other aspects of computer use. This is because its monitor, keyboard, and mouse are all separate components from the main PC tower;
Meaning a user has free reign when adjusting these components to suit his or her positioning. That is, he can adjust the monitor to be at his desired eye level, he can position the keyboard so that his wrist can rest on it comfortably, and he can place the mouse appropriately according to how far he wants to stretch his elbow when using it.

LAPTOP USERS Corresponding laptop components aren't as dynamic, because said laptop parts are designed to be as close as possible to each other to maintain a laptop's portability (it's only selling point when pitted against desktops, in all honesty).
To reiterate the point, laptops are built with portability in mind. This means that, by necessity, laptop parts have to be bunched together as close as possible so that no space in the laptop's chassis will be left unused and unaccounted for, all in the name of carrying convenience.
To this end, not only are the screen, keyboard, and pointer mechanism positioned too close for comfort, but other things factor in as well. For one, the laptop keyboard keys often do not have enough space between them to allow for relaxed finger placement.
