  2. Budgeting • budg·et noun 1. an estimate, often itemized, of expected income and expense for a given period in the future. 2. a plan of operations based on such an estimate. 3. an itemized allotment of funds, time, etc., for a given period. 4. the total sum of money set aside or needed for a purpose: the construction budget. 5. a limited stock or supply of something.

  3. Two of the Top Budgeting Applications • Level Money - (free on iOS and Android) is a straightforward, no-stress tool for making sure you are spending within your means. It looks at how much money you take in each month, how much you spend on rent and bills, how much you want to save, and then gives you an amount you’re allowed to spend each day. • http://www.levelmoney.com • Mint - It’s one of the most comprehensive money management apps out there, showing exactly what areas your money goes to each month (things like Shopping or Utilities) once you link your credit cards, bank accounts, mortgages, and investments. Like Level, Mint automatically sets a budget for you, and also lets you manually enter cash transactions as well. The app is available on iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. • http://www.mint.com

  4. Is It Safe To Use Budgeting Tools? • To take advantage of most money tracking services, you need to enter your bank account user names and passwords. • The leading tools protect a users name and password with the same level of security as a financial institution. Specifically, none of that information is accessible on the site and no personal identifying information other than your e-mail is linked to your account, meaning someone who had your log-in information couldn’t access your bank account information.

  5. Mint Overview

  6. Talking Points • Mobile device as a payment device • Paypal and Square payments • BitCoins • Credit cards and bank accounts linked to websites • On-line banking and banking applications • Password storage • PC vs. Mobile device for account management and budgeting • Device passwords
