Ahora la experiencia humana incluye sufrimiento • But sin produces all kinds of suffering. The earth is no longer a garden of Eden (paradise). Now the human experience includes suffering.

Who is to be blamed? God or man himself?

No hubo tales cosas en el huerto de Edén. • It not only produces thorns, but also earthquakes, floods, drouths, hurricanes, cyclones, volcanic eruptions, etc... There were no such things in the garden of Eden.

God created man with “free will,” so he can think and do whatever he wishes.

Mayoría de las víctimas de desastres naturales son los más pobres. • One principal cause of much suffering is ignorance and poverty. The majority of the victims of natural disasters are the poorest.

What lessons are there in all this for the Christian? How should such disasters affect our attitud toward God?

Job 1:21, 22. • Let’s be very careful about our attitude toward God. It is VERY irreverenty to question Him or argue with Him. Job 1:21, 22.

Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, "Why have you made me like this?"

Dios y Desastres Naturales God and Natural Disasters • Al observar el huracán, ciclón, terremoto, deberíamos meditar en el gran poder de Dios y pensar en tales tragedias como llamamiento al arrepentimiento. • On observing a hurricane, cyclone, earthquake, we should meditate on the great power of God and think of such tragedies as a call to repentance.

Dios y Desastres Naturales God and Natural Disasters • La vida en la tierra es una gran prueba, una existencia breve bajo circunstancias buenas y malas en la cual debemos prepararnos para el encuentro con Dios. • Life on the earth is a great trial, a brief existence under good and bad circumstances in which we should prepare ourselves to meet God.

  46. Dios y Desastres Naturales God and Natural Disasters • Tales calamidades naturales nos recuerdan que no tenemos control sobre nuestro mundo. ¡Somos totalmente dependientes de Dios! • Such natural calamities remind us that we have no control over our world. We are totally dependent on God!
