Warm Up12/4/2008 WARM UP 5PEOPLE NEEDED FOR “DISCUSSION” • Explain to me what YOU did for the past two days while there was a substitute in my class (what did you do on Tues and Wednes)? Did you miss me? Why or why not? Why didn’t you write me a “Get well” card? Were you worried about me at all? Explain why or why not. • DO NOT STOP WRITING UNTIL THE 5-MINUTE TIMER HAS GONE OFF!
Allusion TAKE NOTES • Allusion: when a book or story is mentioned or used in the book you’re reading.
Lazarus TAKE NOTES • Lazarus: In Jesus’ time, a man who was dead but then resurrected by Jesus.
Review (1/2/4/6 PERIOD) OPTIONAL NOTES • Chapter 12: • Joe reflects on the different nurses that visit him. Then he remembers a conflict with the Germans—namely a man named Lazarus, who “raises” from the dead a few times.
Review (3 PERIOD) OPTIONAL NOTES • Chapter 9: • Despite Joe’s attempts to not dream anymore, he flashback’s to a his last camping trip with his father. Joe’s father loves his fishing rod. Joe loses his father’s rod (symbolism?)
