  3. About Us The Adult Education Programs at Miami-Dade County Public Schools began in 1935. Throughout the years, we have prepared thousands of adults for entry-level positions in various industries. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of working adults, as well as help individuals acclimate into our community. Courses are offered at 21 main campuses with flexible schedules that are conveniently located throughout Miami-Dade County.

  4. Programs • Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Adult & Career Technical Education offers general education and career preparation programs for adults. Florida’s adult education system includes a range of instructional programs that help adults get the basic skills they need to be productive workers, family members, and citizens. The major program areas are Adult Basic Education Adult High School and GED® Preparation, and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). These programs emphasize basic skills such as reading, writing, math, and English language competency. Adult education programs also help adult learners gain the knowledge and skills they need to enter and succeed in postsecondary education. Adult learners enrolled in Adult High School can earn a high school diploma or its equivalent by successfully passing the Standard GED® tests.
