Meet theRecruitorator He will bribe you with (root) beer while trying to convince you to work at Taoti. (Yes, this is the office kegorator. And no, it’s not normally serving root beer. But government facility and all…)
Now that we’ve bribed you with root beer, please give us 113 seconds to try to convince you to join our team…
We create innovative and interactive web sites that engage people and make an impact.
For example… We’re developing a knowledge management tool for USAID… something resembling a ‘researcher/funder marketplace’ in which Middle Eastern scientist get their academic work into practical, commercial use so that people can drink clean water and flush a toilet!
For example… We created a life-saving kidney matching application for the National Kidney Registry to pair altruistic donors with those in need of a kidney. The impact? 1084 lives saved to date.
For example… We teamed with Democracy International to build an interactive survey map that provides visual context for a survey of 8000 Afghans. Now the world has a visual way to gauge the political sentiment of Afghanistan.
We are a merry band of creative and technical folk seeking to do good for those doing good in the world, one website at a time. We try to do that by being smarter, more innovative, and seeking out the hidden opportunities in a project that not even the client knew were there.
We’re not political (though we tend to be progressive). We’re work with all sorts of clients (though about two thirds of our clients are non-profits.) We’re a pretty much a Drupal shop (though we’re not afraid to reach for a different tool if the job calls for it.) Our work usually centers around a website (but we do a lot with print, branding, social media, and lately, we’re looking towards that magical land where the interweb meets the real world.)
We are… 46% girls, 54% boys Mac friendly. PC tolerant. Pro-Drush Based in Dupont Circle (but moving to Capitol Hill next year) Mommys and daddys. Some are singles. Some married. Some are engaged. And for some, “It’s complicated.” Artists, musicians, foodies, coffee snobs, whiteboarders, and writers. And one of us runs stupid-long distances and claims to enjoy it. But he’s nuts.
Above all, we are Drupalers. SmartDrupalers.
We believe… in the command line that if you don’t git it, you don’t get it a developer’s right to choose (damn near everything) that maps are cool in transparency, honesty, and reality that flushing the cache will probably fix it in the inseparability of design and functionality that nights and weekends are YOUR time in rewarding excellence and innovation
Above all, we believe that we need smarter people to make smarter websites.
That’s where YOU come in! If you’re smart, passionate, energetic, hard working, looking to spread your creative and innovative wings, then we want to work with you!
Bennies and Perks • We WILL beat your current salary, guaranteed. • Top notch Blue Cross / Blue shield Insurance • Full ‘open access’ medical with no deductibles • Full dental, vision, prescription • Family coverage • Company-matched retirement plan with access to a free financial advisor • Free full gym in the office • 3 weeks vacation standard to start with and the ability to earn another 6 days through “PTO extra credit” (by blogging, going to meetups, etc.) • Flex time options • So long as you’re there for 9am scrum, work whatever 8 hours per day you choose • Monthly telecommute day of your choosing • Other bonus opportunities for finding leads, referring in new hires, coming up with the t-shirt idea of CapCamp, etc. • The office kegorator. The only rule is “don’t do anything stupid such that we’d have to create a rule about the kegorator.” • Sodas and good coffee, all day, every day. And yes, we have sparkling water.
And we have a boat! Weekly cruises for staff, friends, and family on the Potomac, usually stopping at a floating seafood market for dinner (Speaking of which, we’re hosting a party on it Thursday after camp! See a Taotian for an invitation!)
But it’s not about the gym, the flex time, the beer, or even the boat. Work here because you’re good at what you do, you want to learn and master your trade, and you think our culture and client base resonates with your personal and career goals.
The catch Don’t let our beer drinking, casual dressing, boat riding, playful tone fool you. We work really hard. We don’t ask folks to work late, but we do expect them to bang things out and git r’ done for the hours that they are on the clock. Because so many of our clients are non-profit, every dollar they use to pay us usually comes out of the really good work that they do. One less mouth fed. One less woman saved. One less kidney transplanted. We take that pressure seriously and commit to them to work our asses off, be accountable for our time and our work, and to always work as if their time and money were our own. The company makes that commitment to our clients. And we can only do that if you make that commitment to our company.
Immediate Openings Drupal Devs Junior, senior, or in between. However much you know, we’ll teach you more. We’re all about on-the-job education. Information Architect / Content strategist Tired of websites looking and working like all the other websites? This is your chance to change the landscape of web design by creating innovative concepts for layout, navigation, interactivity, etc. The Wild Card There are some amazing people in this world that just don’t fall neatly into any particular category or job description. Whatever it is—if it adds value, helps the team, helps our clients, or makes us a better company, we’re open to it. We’d love to hear your ideas. Project Manager The unsung hero of any project. This job ain’t just about pushing tasks and managing schedules. You, more than anyone else, drive the direction and energy of the project. Technology Director Seems pretentious of a shop our size to have a “CTO.” But if you’re at the top of your Drupal game and looking to graduate into management, this is the path to growing into a CTO position as our shop grows.
