  2. Introduction Home Introduction You are watching the news and see that an author from school, Joy Cowley has run out of ideas for her next book. She has no idea what to write about and needs help. Your job will be to help her pick some characters from her books and create a new setting that she could use for her next story.   3. Task In order to help Joy Cowley you will be completing several small assignments: 1. Create a web of interesting facts about our author Joy Cowley 2. Read several of Cowley’s books and record the characters and setting in each 3. Brainstorm a list of different possible settings for our new story 4. Process • Now it’s your turn to think of a NEW setting for Joy Cowley’s next book! • In order to help you brainstorm, the link below will get you thinking about the different settings for different kinds of stories • Discuss each type of story with your parent. Process • Take a look at your setting list and pick a setting that you think would make an interesting story • Discuss with your parent what things you might find in that setting. • Questions to think about: • what time of day is it? • what is the weather like? • After thinking about your new setting, create a picture using crayons or markers.
