Completing a Crime Report • Should be completed when the elements are present • Complete as soon as practical after the event • Typically there are two parts: • Face Sheet -organize information and gather statistics • Narrative -sets forth the investigation
Solvability Factors • Referred to as Factors • General Yes or No questions about the leads in a case • No right or wrong answer • Generally, the more yes answers the more likely the crime is to be solved • No hard and fast rules • Helps determine whether to continue the investigation
Supplemental Reports • Catchall phrase for all the other kinds of reports • Can be fill in the blanks, narrative or a combination • Purpose is to document information and get it into system
