Purpose of Student Council • Help develop respect among the student body, faculty and community • Promote good citizenship • Promote scholastic achievement • Promote a positive atmosphere throughout the school • Promote a democratic form of student government • Assist in the coordination of student activities • Promote and develop positive leadership • Promote school spirit and cultural values • Promote community service • Promote positive human relations

  6. Conventions District Convention TBA • Get to know new people • Learn how to be a leader State Convention May 8thand 9th • Overnight • Dance • Many fun activities

  7. Campus Climate • Organizing Spirit Week activities • Organizing and hosting Assemblies • Teacher/Student Appreciations

  8. How Parents Can Help… • Volunteers • Help with conventions • Find a way for students to get to school on time • Help with dance, fundraisers, ect.

Zero Hour Class 8:00-8:55am Monday- Jimenez (#84) Wednesday- Jeffers (#54) Friday- Jimenez & Jeffers (#84) • Excused absences: dentist, doctor, family emergencies, tutoring • Graded on participation, attendance, and portfolio (portfolio- calendar, notes from meetings, a list of planning events involved in, reflections, etc.) • An officer or rep. must maintain a “C” average in all classes including Student Council • Students are expected to be on time for class (attendance is a major part of the class grade) • Students need to adhere to all school rules and policies
