Joe Louis Arena • Home of the Detroit Red Wings located in Detroit, Michigan • Nicknamed “The Joe”, named after boxing great Joe Louis. • Built in 1979 , held all start game in their first season • One of few arenas without a corporate name • Cost 57 Million to construct the arena. • First game played was December 27th, 1979 against the St. Louis Blues.
