I’ve always sort of liked the idea of angels. The thought didn’t really comfort me in a religious way, but intrigued my imagination. So, when I was handed a research report project, of course I would do it on these holy creatures that I’d been interested in for a while. I learned many interesting facts along the way of writing my (INSERT HERE) page novella on the subject of these fantastic creatures. Where Did it come from?
Angels, God’s Grace… Right? Angels were not the nicest things in the world. In fact, many angels would much rather slit your throat and be done with it than try to help you find the light of God. We’ve modernized a couple of the angelic figures. Examples:
Through my extensive research, I learned that the little cupids often depicted in literature today are utterly inaccurate. Angels are the dark side of God, and when they are mentioned in the bible, it’s rarely for a good reason. So how could I patch a world together from the scraps and rumors of the wonderful Internet? I began with my main character, a female angel. Though they were mentioned in other religious works, there were no female angels spoken of in the bible. I took this as a form of sexism, and built the mindset of the discriminated world that God’s warriors lived in. Another thing that irritated me on my search were Archangels, angels that were a rank higher than the rest. Building the world of the Angels
Not much is ever mentioned about these elusive leaders, other than the fact that they had larger wings than normal. What is their cause? How did they come to be? Based on the whispered components in the bible, I built my Archangels as upper class citizens with increased powers. For ascending to such greatness, they had to pass a variety of tests. Each was chosen by God, and together formed an angelic council; though they may bicker at times, the Archangels are united and respectful of one another. But what angels even guarding against? Why even have a holy army? The answer was found in my dear friends the Satan-worshippers online. I was honestly a bit freaked out by their webpages, but they helped me gather a lot of information. My angels would fight demons. And so my story began, focused on the tale of one she-angel... Building the world of Angels (Continued)
Who’s who? Meet the Protagonists! • Aria is the main heroine. Facing against sexism and scoff, she struggles to become an Archangel in order to convince her superiors of the rising demon tide. She’s fiery and quick-witted. • Amor is the male hero. He’s never desired becoming an Archangel like Aria, but he’ll stick by her side. With a growing crush on Aria, he assists her on her quests with his intelligence and brawn. • Ariel the Lioness Archangel is Aria’s person trainer. Alongside Azrael the Archangel of Death, Ariel is the only female Archangel. She’s willing to help Aria’s plight. • Raphael is one of the oldest Archangels. He believes in Aria’s tales, and subtly helps her a times.
Who’s who? Meet the Antagonists! • Murmur is the greater demon that first ticks Aria and Amor off to the returning demon armies. He rides a griffon mount, and wreaks havoc alongside his superiors. • Gabriel is a sexist Archangel who refuses Aria’s claims as legitimate. Though he isn’t very liked, Gabriel has power in the council, power that he uses regularly. • Edea is a harsh trainer of the angels. He’s willing to betray his Lord in order to ascend to Archangel. He has a deep hatred of female warriors, believing them to be flirty idiots. • Satan/Lucifer, the demon himself. Once an angel, Lucifer grew cocky and was cast out of heaven. He has two forms: a bat-winged man or a ferocious dragon. Lucifer is King of Demons and Ruler of Hell.
Who knows? This topic is very interesting, not to mention absorbing. I may get this genuinely published, but not after a lot of editing and un-school-ifying. If you like it, I can look into sending you a copy of the actual document. I hope I interested you!
