Facilities • Library – 7000 odd titles and an impressive list of magazines for reference. (Ex. India Today, Career 360, Competition Success etc) • Sports Room • Music Room • Science Laboratories • Computer Lab with internet connection • Canteen • Tailoring • 7 school buses
Examination System • 2 exams a year preceded by unit tests • Unit tests carry weight in the final calculation of marks • SUPW is a compulsory though graded subject • Pass Mark is 40/100 • English is a compulsory subject. You may get 90% in all subjects but it you fail in English, you will not be granted a Pass certificate.
Co-curricular Activities • The society wants rounded personalities, not book worms. • Pay a lot of attention and participate in all co-curricular activities. • Ex – 14th July – Principal’s Day, Franco Fiesta F5 from the 29th of July on wards, Children’s Day, Teacher’s Day, Sports Day in December
Discipline • Discipline is the top priority at STFX • You must take the time and read the school diary at home from cover to cover. It contains a wealth of information. Make your parents do the same. • All information in the School Diary will be assumed as READ and you shall be held accountable for it. • Teachers use the diary to communicate with parents and parents may use it to communicate with us.
Discipline • Leave to be applied for using the pages in the Diary (if less than 2 days) • More than 2 day of Absence – Only granted with a medical certificate and letter from your parents. • If absent but not brought leave note to school, your parents will be called to school to take you home. • Note – Attendance required in 85%. You may have 90% marks in all subjects but if attendance is short, you will not be promoted to the next class
Discipline • Pay attention to your turn out. Uniform must be clean and ironed. No flat pleated trousers for boys, no weird haircuts, no middle parting, no spikey hair, no hair colour, no wrist bands, no tattoos. • Wear school shoes – no sports shoes/other types allowed. • Obtain your PT uniforms, it is required. • Incorrect uniform is seen as an act of indiscipline. • Mobile phones – BANNED. If caught, will be confiscated for at least 1 month. If brought on emergency basis, get a letter and deposit the phone with the class teacher.
Discipline • Do not bring any CDs, DVDs, music players to school. If seen, it will definitely be played (apart from confiscation). • Do not hang around school campus after school gets over. You need to board the school bus or your private transport. Others head to the bus stand. • Do not make the school an assembly point for meeting your friends. We will be strict about it.
Discipline • We do not allow any students or outsiders to make any kind of assembly near the school campus. If found in such circumstances, serious consequences will follow. • No kind of public fights shall be tolerated. It will lead to suspension and in severe cases transfer certificates shall be handed out. • This is a co-ed school, just like the world is ‘co-ed’. Both boys and girls need to treat the other with respect and dignity.
14th July • To be celebrated as Principal’s Day. On this day we also conduct the prize distribution ceremony as well as appoint the student council. • The Bishop of Kolkata shall preside over the ceremony. Principal of St. James School shall also be coming over. • Respond positively to calls for participation. Participants to be issued certificates of participation. Useful in future.
Franco Fiesta 2010 • Our annual Inter School Festival • Conducted from 30th July to 1st August. • Over 10-12 schools participate. • Event to be organized by the Interact Club of St. Francis Xavier School. Teacher In Charge – Mr. Suman Dutta, Mrs. Kshama Dham, Mrs. Anita Singh. • They shall soon seek nominations for the Interact Board – a very prestigious appointment. • The best students of STFX have part of the Interact Club Board and have also been usual academic toppers.
Franco Fiesta 2010 • On Saturday, 26th of July, I personally shall be be part of the selection process of the Board through interviews. • The events of Franco Fiesta • Debate • Quiz • Dance/Dramas • Western Band • Computer Gaming • Fashion Show • Etc Etc ………………..
