Enid Blyton - the author Enid Blyton was born on 11 August 1897. She had two younger brothers, Hanley and Carely. From 1907 to 1915, Enid was educated at St. Christopher's School in Beckenham. She excelled at her endeavors, ending her schooling years as head girl. She has written 36 novels over her life time.
Our Favorite Part Our favorite part was when George’s dog, Timmy, is forced to wear a comical cardboard collar because of the stiches in his ear. George becomes really angry because everyone is laughing at poor Timmy. She decides to run away where no one can see his collar until he has it taken off.
Recommendations We would not recommend this book to children our age because we found that the story plot is a bit boring. Reviews say that some of the other books in the series are more interesting. We would recommend this book for children 8 and 9 years old. The language used is not hard to understand and younger kids may find the book exciting.
Summary George runs away to a near-by abandoned cottage with Timmy and her cousin Anne. George and Anne meet a strange, secretive boy. Later, Anne’s bothers Julian and Dick arrive. Anne starts to hear strange noises at night and is convinced that there are ghosts in the cottage. The others don’t believe her but soon realize that she is telling the truth. And some how that strange boy must be involved …
