Club Accounts. What is a Club?. A club is an organisation set up for the benefit of its members, e.g. Golf Club, Rugby Club, GAA Club, Bridge Club, etc. Members elect officials (Chairperson, Secretary & Treasurer) to run the club at the AGM (Annual General Meeting).

What is a Club? • A club is an organisation set up for the benefit of its members, e.g. Golf Club, Rugby Club, GAA Club, Bridge Club, etc. • Members elect officials (Chairperson, Secretary & Treasurer) to run the club at the AGM (Annual General Meeting)
What does the Chairperson do? • Runs the club • Chairs meetings • Keeps order at meetings • Follows the agenda • Puts motions to a vote
What does the Secretary do? • Calls meetings • Sends agenda to the members (the agenda is a list of topics to be discussed at the meeting) • Arranges the meetings • Takes note at the meetings of decisions and writes up the minutes (the minutes are a written record of what was discussed and decided at a meeting)

What does the Treasurer do? • Collect subscriptions (membership fees) • Issue receipts for all money received • Lodges money received to the club’s bank account • Pay all the club’s bills • Keep a record of all income and expenditure • Prepare annual accounts and a financial report for the AGM
