  2. FLSE NFPA 1035, 2010 Ed. Who is Required to Complete the Fire and Life Safety Educator Online Requalification? Fire and Life Safety Educator Level I, II, and III Instructors

Fire and Life Safety Educator Online Requalification Process • FLSE Instructors must complete the online requalification on or prior to July 6, 2011 • Once the PowerPoint and NFPA 1035 Matrices have been thoroughly reviewed, the instructor will fill out the completion form located at: (insert link to form here) and mail it to the provided address • Forms must be postmarked no later than July 6, 2011

Fire and Life Safety Educator Online Requalification Process • Why did Public Fire and Life Safety Educator change to simply Fire and Life Safety Educator • In 2010 the NFPA 1035 Committee recommended removing the outdated word “Public” from the Fire and Life Safety Educator title since most organizations use “Fire and Life Safety Educator.”

Comprehensive Lesson Plan Revisions • NFPA Educational Messages Advisory Committee recommendations for accurate and consistent language have been used • Example: Smoke Detector is now Smoke Alarm • See the “Educational Messaging” link on NFPA’s homepage • Statistical data has been updated • Student activities have been updated and are now embedded in the lesson plan • Dated material has been removed

  7. Level I Education Specific Lesson Plan Changes • Lesson 4: Working with the Media- moved to Admin Level 1 Lesson 4. • Lesson 5: Distributing Information- moved to Admin Level 1 Lesson 5.

  8. FLSE Practical Title Change • Practicals for all three levels of the Fire and Life Safety Education Lesson Plans are now named by their NFPA reference. • For Example: Old practical title was “Student Activity One” • New practical title is “5.2.1 1 of 1”
