  1. Activity 1: LA 3 Official Pretest 15 minutes Activity 2: Music Identity Presentations 10 minutes • Remember to participate: we are LOOKING and LISTENING and SMILING. Activity 3: 6 + 1 Writing Traits 24 minutes • Handout—rubric for grading, these two papers should be hole-punched and put in binders • Review importance and meaning of traits • Students in assigned groups (7/8 groups of 4) • Create image for 6 + 1 Writing Traits EXIT TICKET = Post it note with a complete sentence about one of the traits.

  2. Activity 1: Review rules and procedures Activity 2: SOAPStone—You need a piece of paper! All of your notes will go on that piece of paper. 5 min--First, hover/skim to write down words that will stop you from understanding the article 10 min—Second, as a class we will share some difficult words and you must write down the meaning of the words on your list. 25 min—Third, read through the entire article and apply questions from SOAPStone to guide your note taking.
