RESOLUTION AG/OAS 2573 8 June 2010 17. To request that, by December 1, 2010, the IADB undertake an institutional assessment of its technical and advisory services that it can offer to the OAS member states.
LEGAL FRAMEWORK • IADB STATUTES • GOALS AND OBJECTIVES PLAN (2008-2016)
INTRODUCTION • THE IADB HAS BEEN INTEGRATED WITH THE OAS • MUTUAL LACK TO UNDERSTANDING • IADB HAS UNDERTAKEN EFFORTS TO GET CLOSER TO OAS • RESOLUTION No. 2573 – SUPPORT ACTIVITIES OF THE IADB
BODY a. ISSUES IN WHICH THE BOARD IS INVOLVED b. ISSUES IN WHICH THE IADB IS NOT YET INVOLVED
a. ISSUES IN WHICH THE BOARD IS INVOLVED • Interaction with other similar organizations 2) Supporting the Conference of Defense Ministers of the Americas 3) Humanitarian Demining 4) White Papers 5) Security and Confidence Building Measures 6) Humanitarian assistance in cases of natural disasters 7)Curriculum and academic activities of the Inter-American Defense College (IADC)
b. CONCLUSION • The OAS and its Member States have a high-level international organization that can and should be used to its full potential • There are areas and issues in which the IADB can help, assist, advise, and collaborate even more with the OAS
CONCLUSION • There are other issues, once having been evaluated in depth, that could find a place in the future work agenda of the IADB, further expanding and improving the technical and consultative support it can offer the OAS • The ongoing participation and dialogue among every element involved, with all engaged proactively, will no doubt enable the desired goal to be achieved: the IADB will be strengthened, as will its capacity to support the Member States
CONCLUSION With the IADB’s effective participation, adding value to the issues mentioned above, will also strengthen the OAS, peace, and hemispheric security
