Analysing/Resynthesising Dynamics Parameter Magnitude Time
Analysing/Resynthesising Dynamics • Study effect of manipulating temporal characteristics of emotions, e.g. smiles [Emotion 2007] • Trust game: • Randomly assigned a counterpart • Cooperation leads to mutual financial gains
Analysing/ResynthesisingDynamics • What did we learn? • ‘Genuine’ Dynamics = More likeable/Trustworthy • ‘Fake’ Dynamics = Less Likeable/Trustworthy
Conclusions and Future Directions • Humans are very sensitive to different dynamics • Different dynamics can produce dramatically different perceptual effects • Understanding these effects is key for producing human-realism • Technology now allows study of 3D dynamics - our work has only just started!
