98 percent of all teachers in 12 districts surveyed for a study by New Teachers received satisfactory or better ratings on their evaluations. In a survey of principals, 80 percent said at least one teacher in their school building should not be teaching.

Purposes To Learn about the principal’s role in teacher evaluation
Objectives will: • Be familiar with what state policy makers can do to ensure that principals have the professional development support they need to effectively use new teacher evaluation instruments, provide actionable feedback to teachers, and are certified to conduct evaluations. • Learn about the findings from the NGA Issue Brief: “Preparing Principals to Evaluate Teachers • Hear from districts participating in the Wallace Principal Pipeline Initiative about how they support their principals and hold them accountable for implementing their teacher evaluation system.
