Historical Events • Chile declared independence in 1810 but they didn’t really have full control until 1818 • War of the Pacific (1879-1883), Chile finally took down Peru and Bolivia gained control of some new northern regions of its country. • Chile had a democratic rule until 1973. The military then took charge of the country but later in 1989, the democratic rule came back.
