Background 'As a Forum we are committed to ensuring that children and young people with disabilities, their families & carers are central to planning and shaping services in Salford'.
We welcome all parents and carers to get involved in the forum as the more of us there are the stronger are voice will be. We aim to represent a wide range of parent's views.
What the forum has achieved over the past 12 months.........
What we would like to achieve over the next 12 months........ Any Suggestions?
Parent participation: A partnership process where parent carers are valued members of a team shaping and delivering services for families of children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities. ‘Effective parent participation happens when parents have conversations with and work alongside professionals in order to design, develop and improve services’.
What does parent participation mean to you? How do you want it to work?
We want to hold a couple of training days for parent carers in the 12 months – what sort of training would you like?
"I am really pleased that the Salford forum supporting our children with disabilities is developing this website. It provides a useful resource for parents and carers to access information, advice and guidance from parents with experience and knowledge. Working in partnership with the City council is important to ensure that our children and young people achieve their full potential in Salford. I am sure the forum will go from strength to strength" Nick Page Strategic Director for Salford Children's Services
What’s next? We will look at all the feedback we have received today to increase our knowledge and confidence to understand the needs of parents and families in Salford caring for disabled children and young people. We will publish our presentation and feedback on our website and incorporate this into our plan for the next 12 months.
We hope you’ve enjoyed the day found it useful. Presentations from today will be available on our website www.salfordfamilyforum.org Please see the website for more information, future events and how to contact Salford Family Forum. We are aiming to further develop the website over the next 12 months.
