Writing Expressions and Equations • Write each sentence as an algebraic equation. • A number plus three is 9. • Four cents more than the price is 93¢. • A number decreased by 5 is 12 • A number times four is 20. • The product of z and 6 is 54. • 72 divided by y is -9. • One more than twice as many CDs is 17.

Writing Expressions and Equations • “Writing Colorful Expressions/Equations” • Each partner group will have a baggie of different colored papers that will include a mathematical phrase or number sentence. • Each partner will draw from the baggie and write the phrase or sentence on their form. • You create the expression or equation that means the same. • Put it back and draw a different color. • Continue until all colors have been drawn and completed by each partner. • Check your answers with each other.
