PEEing on a paragraph – Not so good Section II of 1984 says that although Julia appears to be an orthodox Party member, she is not. She participates in many Party activities, such as the Junior Anti-Sex League. She sleeps with many Outer Party members, including Winston. “It was camouflage. If you kept the small rules you could break the big ones” (ch. 8 par. 3). This says that in order to deflect suspicion, she works hard for the Party and acts like she loves Big Brother. If you act like a good Party member, nobody will think that you’re not.
PEEing on a paragraph - Good In Section II of 1984,it becomes clear that although Julia appears to be an orthodox Party member, she is not. She participates in many Party activities, such as the Junior Anti-Sex League, while at the same time sleeping with many Outer Party members, including Winston. According to Julia, all this activity “…was camouflage. If you kept the small rules you could break the big ones” (129). In order to deflect suspicion, she works diligently for the Party and appears dedicated to the ideals of Big Brother. Because of this, nobody suspects that such an upstanding citizen is actually breaking some of the Party’s most important rules.
