  4. How Can You Protect Yourself? • Supervise young children • Keep lighters and matches in secured area • Develop a home escape plan • Teach children about fires • Teach children how to get help • Teach how to STOP, DROP and ROLL • Install smoke alarms

  5. What do you do if there is a fire? • Call 9-1-1 • Get out of the house

  6. What to teach children! • Teach children how to dial 9-1-1 (for emergencies only) • Teach children how to get out of the house • Teach children how fire alarms work • Teach children that firefighters are our FRIENDS • Teach children their address

  9. Make an escape plan like this one When making an escape plan have your children with you. Make sure they know where everything is and that they understand. Post the plan somewhere in your home.
